| Just a heads up for the wise. SGP definitely isn't the same since Kyle left for Import Parts Pro. Recently I was in a situation with my motor where I needed to send it back to SGP for some R+R since I have a 3 year warranty on it that I purchased when I bought the engine after numerous painful experiences with local shops. The history – let me forget It has been documented here that I had a bearring problem last year that Ash band-aided. It was some question that the tune or the fuel injectors were the issue. Pics and observations from 10/2005 Follow up post from last year I noticed slight variance with oil pressure on my Greddy gauge and shortly thereafter I developed a slight bottom end knock. http://www.twinturbo.net/net/viewmsg.aspx?forum=general&msg_id=1726086 ]">La-Z-Link SO I sent the car to SGP and after numerous phone call attempts on several conversations ( I heard all the possibile causes of bad injectors / bad tune / stock rods can not support the power that I am at / etc ) I ask Mark to let me know what went wrong so that I don't repeat it again. Towards the end of the 3 month ordeal, He tells me that in his opinion the tune is ok because only cylinder 4 looks bad and that RC engineering checked all the 850 cc injectors and #4 was ok. I ask him to adjust the "estimate" of $2714 that includes the several items that I felt either I should not be charged or I was over charged ( like being charged 5 hours to swap a OEM engine harness and steering rack bearrings with the engine out of the car and the motor work ) He says no problem but never gets around to it. So Ash and I drive out to Houston from Florida and I call Mark - he tells me that they are closing early but I can still pick up the car. I ask him what is the final charge - he says he is with a customer and to call back in 5 minutes. I call back and I am told that he left for the day. WTF ???? I show up at SGP and I am given an "invoice" of $1514 ( approx ) and the engine charges have been removed. Everything else is there. I didn't argue about the 5 hours labor because it isn't worth it, Mark isn't there,and the sales guy says he knows nothing about the car or the bill. I am looking over the car at this point. I noticed on the car that I have oil leaks ( which I still have - rear main seal and passenger turbo line - which I had fixxed - ). Mark didn't dyno the car ( as he assurred me he would since I am roadcoursing the car and auto crossing it ) - so Ash used their dyno and made three baseline pulls at 14psi ( I couldn't use the boost controller because it was overboosting - I later found out that they wired the boost controller hoses incorrectly ). I make it to "ZCONN" and back to Delaware safely and make arrangements to resolve the oil leaks that I have ( however I did have to pull over in Virginia and add 1/2 quart and I noticed oil spray all over my rear bumper like the old James Bond movies - not funny ) . One day two weeks ago, I get a credit card statement that I was charged $2800 from SGP... WTF !!!!! I call SGP and inquire about it and they don't know anything about and Mark is not in. So esentially I have credit card charges that I never authorized and on top of that I "double paid" for everything without knowing it and paid more than standard rates for services and parts ( SGP charged me $110 each for Cometic head gaskets when Cometic advertises $88 each on the their website ). I never knew that they charged me $2800. Never signed anything, never gave the ok to charge my credit card, never saw an invoice or estimate totalling the figure $2800. The whole thing is bad all over. Yes - I got additional things done and I have paid for those things. I all and all don't have any issues with the work that the individuals did / completed and even called back and bought lunch for the entire shop later ( before I knew about the $2800 charges ). To this day I have not seen one invoice that details all items charged. at one point - Mark told me that there is no way a motor that has over 500rwhp will last on stock rods and when I stated that Specialty Z and Z1 have done it on numerous cars, I was told "who are they, we are SGP, we do this all the time." I have called SGP several times and no return calls. At this point, I am left to work things out using other measures. I can't see how any business can charge a customer's credit card and never tell them that it was done or provide "complete" documentation stating 1 ) this is what we did
2 ) this is what we are charging you for
3 ) this is how much you have or have not paid
4 ) this is how much you owe
5 ) this is what happenned / caused your failure I have spoken to a few of you over the last few months on advice on what to do / how to handle this and have kept it off the forum. I just cant take being screwed over anymore. It is what it is. I just hope I don't have anymore bearring issues with the motor. It seems to be running fine and I got a few more goodies in her now. I know that SGP is a vendor here on the forum - but I question Mark's honesty , character, business ethics, and intregrity. My only point is that if you do business with SGP - be wary . The guys that do the work seem fine - Mark on the other hand is another story.
